The Dreamgiver

The Dreamgiver is Bruce Wilkinson's exploration of commitment in achieving your dreams and destiny. There is tendency in spiritualism to wait for all the planets to line up before putting a perfectly God's plans into action. In Christian circles when one lacks the will to action then the response is often, “I will prey about it and get back to you”. The discerning person quickly realizes this offer to seek God is more often then not an evasion, rather than a commitment to seek guidance from the creator. In reality those fully committed to a spiritual cause, and in love relationship with their creator can act decisively. Do you know your creator has already put your dreams into your heart. With a little self knowledge and well founded relationship with your creator it's easily possible to respond in the moment as each occasion to fulfil your destiny arises.

Their was a Christian in a grocery store and he asked God should I buy the whole grain or the white bread. God responded, “Don't ask me, I am you father not your mother”. Some may get offended by this joke but others may see that our creator wants us to go forth in faith, he wants us to trust in ourselves secure in the knowledge that we are his child and that he loves us. WHATEVER WE DO. That kind of love is pretty hard to escape or deny and nor would you ever want to. God simply trusts us to act and this is continually demonstrated in sacred teachings. When you look at guys and girls who unwaveringly completed their purpose on earth you will see the one thing they have in common is a commitment to action. Jesus himself when the time was right, stooped preying and carried his cross to his chosen destiny in Gods will.

For mine that commitment is the willingness not to shirk what Gos is put in our heats. Thankfully for us, because Jesus was commuted to fulfilling his purpose we now have access and relationship with our creator God. The bible is littered with stories of heroes who had a commitment to fulfilled Gods cause and now their names are remembered in and for eternity because of their decisive committed actions in honoring the creator God. Johnathon and his armor bearer when they encountered the army that was occupying their territory simply took arms and walked into their destiny of freedom while others had prayer meetings asking God to free them. Thats not to say that prayer is not important, only that if you already have the answer to your prayers then it then becomes time for action instead of prayer. And a lot of the time Jesus is the answer to that prayer you are preying. Jesus set you free from slavery on the cross and you are free to follow the dreams and desired God put in your heart, wholeheartedly.

Like when Mosses walked out of Egypt into the  promised land you to have promises over your life that all you need to do is walk into. Your commitment  of walking into those  promises will make a difference, not only  your own life but in all those around you. Commitment will mean you may need to step out of your comfort zone to achieve what God has put in your life however. I think of what Jesus said about foxes having dens but the Son of man not having a place to lay his head. Really there are many examples of people stepping out of what is comfortable to achieve their goals. How about the parable where all those guys were given some money when the master came back he was happy with the one who had used their talents rather than the one who had buried theirs in fear of losing it. The one who moved the most beyond their comfort zone was the one the master was most pleased with. There are countless other examples of reward for those who step out of their comfort zone and commit to fulfilling the creators purpose. God made it this way because he loves and created you and wants you to come to him like he will come to you.

The author of the Dreamgiver series explains there are comfort zones you will need to move out of if you are to move into the dreams that God has for you.  The Dreamgiver God is described as the one who puts the dreams in your heart and you are the one that has all the potential you will ever need to live them out. The author Bruce Wilkinson defines these dreams in terms of their unity with the creation purpose.  Sacred dreams serve others Gods purpose and inevitably oneself and are those that are at the creation end of a continuum while self centered materialistic temporary dreams may reside at the other end. All around you are needs some more selfish than others but your dreamgiver God has put in your heart certain dreams that you will be drawn to Wilkinsen asserts that all people have these dreams and I tend to agree with him. If you are to fulfill these purposes of the Dreamgiver God then you will need to move from your comfort zone boundary and into

A truly great person is described as someone who can meet someone, recognize a need,  have a mini dream, and then fulfill that mini dream upon a single encounter. Perhaps you may like to think of Jesus and the disciples and the miracles of healing they achieved. Wilkenson describes these people as the ones that are continually operating out of their comfort zones to achieve Gods purposes in these sacred dreams.  In fact these dreams are described as belonging to the Dreamgiver. Real commitment is required when it comes time to move beyond the boundary of your comfort zone. What are you going to do. Sure you can pray and seek guidance from the Dreamgiver but remember once you know that he has put it in your heart. Sooner or latter there is going to come a time to act. I agree with Wilkinson that there is not going to come the perfect time to act. You may not hear an audible voice of God, accompanied by a letter of invitation in the mail from the Dreamgiver, and a solar eclipse before the time is right to act.

Your comfort zone is exactly that an area where your emotions are comfortable to reside. Your challenge is to grow spiritually and not stop growing,  to have a heart like God, full of life and love for all. That will take a commitment to purpose  and a faith and trust in the Dreamgiver big enough to bridge the chasm between where the borderland of your comfort zone and where your dream lies. And once you begin to start living that dream the Dreamgiver would ask that you not let that become the boundaries of a new comfort zone. Then you soul is put through a continuing evolutionary state, a continual transformation of what it means to be who you are. Gradually the boundaries between your self and the creator become increasingly blurred until you yourself begin to resemble the Dreamgiver yourself and develop a insatiable capacity to “move mountains” for others to fulfill their Dream-giving potentials. Amen.
