Exhortation is simply
urging someone to do something. It implies that there is always free
choice and can only have a real substantial effect once relationship
has been established. The gift of communicating encouragement to the
inner self of individuals and cultures in specific
contexts requires a certain degree of acceptance. Then you
can really begin to lift people up.
This gift then enables the flowing of the spirit in all it's forms to
bring comfort, council, healing, encouragement, hope, love and healing
into peoples, places, situations and times. While encouragement may
lift your spirits to complete a goal, exhortation lifts your spirit in
the divine context. It moves your heart closer to your creator Gods and
gives you a sense of the truthfulness of real connection to
Gods love. While prophesy is concerned with the (it) truth exhortation
deals with how that effects you at a deeper level. It hits you right in
the heart.
By lifting and activating through faith the Spirit is given life to
breath the life of God into other members of the body. Exhortation is
not only the word of God then; It is the meaning of the word and behind
the word delivered into a specific context. Those who posses this gift
have the ability to uplift end enrich their cultural environment. An
atmosphere of Joy and Love is the result of of this spirit in action.
