How to Build Self EsteemWhat a lot of us
don't always realize is that our attitudes are learned behavior. A
positive sense of self is achieved over time through practice. Focusing
on what is wright instead of what is wrong, are usually traits that are
constructed with in a a family or culture. A negative mindset, or
script, may claim that there is not any sense in trying to improve
because this is the lot I was given. Believing in your own
abilities to make positive changes is a key factor in
determining you future direction.
Rewriting a more positive script means choosing to look at ourself in a brighter light. Whenever you catch yourself saying, "I am a worrier, or I come from a line of unhappiness", you should think again. Encourage yourself with words of affirmation, knowing you are creating a foundation to springboard yourself into an upward spiral of self acceptance. Don't
wait for you circumstances to decide your self esteem level. Decide to
have high self esteem right now as a matter of will.
Not everything is going to go our way and not everyone is going to like
us. We only have a certain amount of control over these circumstances,
and the best we can do is start believing in the best for the future.
As long as we have a personal script that affirms our self worth then
we will become more resilient to the pressures that a cynical world can
throw at us.Find the Source of Self Esteem The antidote to consumerism is a self worth founded in the eternal worth you were born with. A purpose for good that was planned out for you long before your culture had the opportunity to influence it. Re-establish that script that was created for you and run it everyday. I have included some Joel Osteen videos at the bottom of this page that can set you in the right direction. ways, Jesus is both liberal or conservative. In the postmodern age we
are aware of the dangers of seeing
scientific truth as the only form of truth. There are other ways to build self esteem. Each building block
to build self esteem, has more than one aspect of truth to it.
Your brain (UR- upper right) has thoughts that are immeasurable
scientifically but are equally real. Your mind (Self consciousness UL)
needs accurate interpretation. Your minds thoughts are created and have
an constructed element which happens in culture (LR). If the modern
discovery has been to bring liberty through the separation of Science,
Art and Morals, then the the postmodern discovery has been that
thoughts come out of a cultural context. The issue of the separation
has collapsed the left hand paths to the imperial domination of
Science. All paths are needed to restore the truth of spirituality as
