The Postmodern Bible

The postmodern bible is a reading that recognizes the style of postmodernism. The revelation is that scares many of us is that while the bible contains the prepositional truth of the word of God it remains only prepositional until we act upon it.  The thought of this puts grave fear in the heart f some people because it means they will actually have to live out an authentic Christianity. We will need to rewrite the word of the bible, but not literally, not by changing a single character, but with our actions and deeds. We will need to live out the truth of the bible in a way that makes it real. The bible was never intended to stay as black and white words on a page, but to thrust that truth into our consciousness in full multidimensional Technicolor is more the postmodern style.

Some people misinterpret that to mean that they should not read the bible at all because we can't trust it. That is a little like saying we can't trust that the bus coming towards us is not going to run us over because it is not real, and only a construct of my own making. This is overreacting to the postmodern idea that world views emerge. This is plain bad form to suggest that because our self and culture all come out of culture, that because we have a tendency to  reproduce certain traits, that we can reproduce new laws of the universe. That we can recreate God in our own image. This whole idea is a little self centered to say the least. Anyway if you can do this you may as well grow wings no

But for most of us we are going to need truth, and at least one foot in reality. The idea is to live in reality and to make that the reality of the spiritual essence of life. To realize everything has indeed come out of God. When you see that bus coming toward you to see that the bus a part of Gods workmanship, and then to get out of the way of it. To get out of the way because God also gave you eyes to see the bus coming. It's called reality and the reason you know about it is because you are conscious. It is through you consciousness you can also know about God. And if you try, you can get to know God better through reading and understanding the bible.

When you are a baby you can put your hand out and touch the bus, and realize you are not the bus. Your consciousness has improved because you don't any longer think the bus is part of one big reality. That is how it is with world views too. God teaches us with lessons that a carried out over the ages. At each stage we learn a little more about rules like buses hurt if they hit you at speed. And by the time you have reached the postmodern age you should realize that the big lessons of life have a little more substance to them, than buses hurt. The big lessons are here to teach us how to live out our spiritual destiny, because by the postmodern age we should have realized that is wise to take instruction from our creator. The one who gave us life and has a plan to prosper and not for harm.

Who Wrote the Bible  (long but worth it -1h:40min)

While the scripture of the Bible remains the infallible word of God we need to make correct interpretations as to it’s meaning. This will only happen if we develop our world views and our consciousness towards God. If we continue to drink only spiritual milk we will only see God as prepositional truth, as the bus coming towards us.W e need to have God have an effect on us, and for this we need to see God firstly as objective infallible truth, not relative but absolute truth and we also need to see him from a second perspective. We need to see him as the truthful relational friend. That buddy who we can sharpen our intellect and our consciousness with. Now this seems a little absurd but the situation as we have it now in the spiritual world is that theology is divided into these opposing camps. you can clearly see in this interview the two perspectives discretely polarized between those who see God as an objective truth and those who want to see him as we can’t continue to say there is the word of God over there and here we are here and we want that word of God to suddenly reach out and transform us.

The power is their for the word of God to transform us but first we need the willingness to become transformed by the word of God. The power of life and death is in the word. And that means we will need to have a willingness to interact and have it effect us. This means more than observing the word from a distance and saying thats true. It means firstly we have to accept the word of God as absolutely correct and then we have to go in there and swim in it. Swim in the truth of the Word and  let it overtake our whole being, our whole consciousness. And part of the word of God states there is only one way to know God and that is through Jesus Christ. Then when I say to Ken, Hay Ken  "Jesus is the Only way to know God," Ken might say, "Aren't you being a little mythic in your wold view"?

Ken and I in this instance are both acting rationally, in the modern way, by allowing each other to agree to disagree. But deep down each of believes our perspective is correct. At this stage however Ken has had a little time to think and  may want to add a spice to our conversation. He may say I think my position is a little better than yours because it holds more love, and it encompasses a greater deal of inclusion than my idea that there is only one way to know God through Jesus. Here he may point out how the spiritual journey that he recommends that requires that we deal with our conflicting perspectives by moving to a higher spiritual evolutionary state. He will pint out perhaps all the wars that have been fought out in the name of religion. It’s not hard to think up a big list here. Then he might give an explanation of how Spirituality has three aspects.
