Increasing self esteem is best achieved by not situating yourself in a comparison culture. Seeing that God created you as a unique human being with a specific purpose is not an easy task. Throughout the 20th Century Governments and marketers have had a put a lot of effort in creating a sense of self in individuals. Simply because the U.S. government belief that people were inherently bad and needed controlling we now have a system where mass self esteem is controlled externally to our selves through the mass media. Of course their is more to it and the likes of Anna Freud and many others are deeply implicated in creating a dependency in individuals in consumerism to ale their desires.

This has created a situation where many people are at war against themselves. Inside rages a battle and individuals can easily develop a tendency to become very critical against themselves. Their self talk  says, " I am to slow, or I am unattractive, or I am never going to......." not realizing the powerful effect of self talk. On the other side the outside where solid community values are not in place the messages created by powerful tools of the  psychoanalysts play on these insecurities to create consumption desires in the individual.

Many in Big Business see it is in their interest to have you insecure about yourself and to desire more than you are.



Efforts have been mostly focused on creating and selling desires for us. The assumption has been that if  we don't desire, then we won't consume, and if we don't consume then the economy will collapse. For example when a cake manufacturers noticed that their cake mixes were not selling in the 1950's they found through focus groups that women had a sense of guilt about not playing the nurturing woman. The answer for the cake mix manufacturers came back from the market research to add another egg.

Market research groups then exploit the cracks in our psyches exposed under psychoanalysis to create subliminal messages intended to control and direct our desires. The easiest course, of least resistance found has been to manipulate our sense of self worth and self esteem.  This has been an orchestrated and concerted attempt to have our self esteem in the pocket of big business and Government. It is possible because in many ways self esteem is as much a corporate condition as it is an individual condition. Low self esteem in the individual has it's roots  situated in the community. Thats why the ways to increase self esteem that focus on groups work better.


The key to creating a loving community is to first love yourself enough to love others. When you learn to love yourself with all your faults your influence can have a profound effect on your community. A balanced is recommended in approaching the very real problem of self esteem.
